Perseverance, the NASA Mars robot is only 3 days from landing on the planet through a sequence called the "7 minutes of terror". The robot will control the extremely hazardous landing on a crater all by itself, using its on board computers and without any assistance from earth! It takes 14 minutes for any communication signal to travel to Mars and back when it's nearest to earth. So the robot is equipped to "think" when faced with any unforeseen challenges using its very advanced data gathering sensors. The robot main mission among other technological experiments, is to explore the Jezero crater for any evidence of ancient life.
